Animals ♥

Hi bloggers!!!
I really love animals, I consider myself an animal-lover, I think they are like us, I think they think, love, hate and have needs like us, and because of it I feel them as equal to us. I have a pet in Santiago, it’s (“he’s” I think is better) called Benito. He’s a very hyperactive cat; he goes running all the time, scratching and biting all things that are on its way. Those who live with him, usually we get angry with him for it. But occasionally Benito is affectionate and calm, and that's when we return to love him.

I live in my apartment since six months, so I’ve not had time to know if there are organizations that support animal rights, but I hope these institutions exists. I would like to help and cooperate.
I really don’t know a lot of endangered species in my country, I only know that “Pudú” it’s.

I love animals, but I can’t deny that I’m agree with the use of animals for medical research, I think it’s necessary for new discoveries, I really would like that scientist create a different way to experience, but while this doesn’t happen I don’t think it's good to stay stagnant, because many times these new discoveries can be useful not only for humans but also for the animals themselves, for example we can know more about its nature and behavior.
If I were an animal I would like to be a cat, because I think this animal has a lot of attitude and character, but also it’s very gentle and concerned for its owner.

Hahaha, if animals could make a documentary movie about humans, I think they would say that we’ve not had enough respect and affection to them, but I think they end up saying that they’ll always be there for support us.

Environment

Hi Bloggers!
Days ago, I watched a propaganda on television about light saving. It was curious because it was not aimed at protecting the environment, but to save the money of all the people. And then, I realized that maybe it was the only way to motivate people to save, because there’s no real awareness about the environment care. I think this education should begin at home, in our own families, and then at school. I think they should do more activities focused on learning of good practices with nature.

However, I must be honest and say that I do’nt do a lot of things for environment care. I just recycle supermarket bags and avoid to wast water while I wash. Many times I prefer to walk, but most the times I travel by Transantiago. In this situation, we are tight, so I guess contamination is minimizing, even a little. Except that, I do nothing to protect the environment, however I would like to have a garden and recycling bins for different materials, when I have my own home.

I think in our society is missing, along with awareness, more places to recycle, for example special tash can, incentives for who care for the water, who plant trees in their yards, etc.

However, I think companies must manufacture in a sustainable way, that recycling is not the only way to help, that care starts before.

Music in my life :)

Hi bloggers! When I listen music I inmediatly feel the desire to dance, I really love music, dancing and singing!

Music is very important in my life; always when I’m sad o tired I start to listen music, and it always makes me happy. I really think that rhythm goes into our bodies and then, it connects with the beating of our hearts.
I always listen rock from the eighties, but mainly Soda Stereo. I really enjoy to listen Gustavo Cerati’s voice, the look of the members band. I think it is the most important rock band in spanish. They represent a generation that lived oppressed but looked for fun.

However, I prefer Gustavo Cerati as soloist, he’s my favorite singer. I love him because of his voice, face, style, etc. He has known to venture into many musical styles, and always he does it right. I love him because his music is so good, but also his lyrics.

But, the kinds of music that I really dislike are bachata and pop. I think they are very monotonous, there’s not a use of intruments, only there are computational melodies. They are too basic in musical and also in poetry.

Anyway, I think the world would be a routine, so sad and boring without music. I think music is necessary for having identity and individuality. Peolple and culture have reflected on the music a lot about their values, their history and their differentiation from other cultures. I they continue do it.

If you come to study Psychology...

Hi bloggers! Today I found an interesting text that summarizes much of our future work as psychologists, and what we can hope for studying it.

The text is an University guide, about what will you learn, what will you gain and what job can you get if you come to study Psychology.

The text begins saying what will you learn in the first year of University: a general basis of Psychology, which contains modules about social psychology of individuals and groups. The text also claims that during that time, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a psychologist for a year, and joint work with other disciplines such as biology or journalism.

All this study will give you a lot of knowledge, critical thinking, and skills to investigate, solve problems and interpret data properly. The text also mentions that you should have, at least, one own research in the last year.

With all this, the text states that if you opt for this career you’ll have a series of options to work. You can become a clinical, forensic, educational psychologist, etc., depending on your own interests.

The text ends saying that if you’ve the ability to identify and assess patterns of behavior, to apply different perspectives to psychological problems and to joint work your CV will look good.

Euthanasia?

Hi dear bloggers!

I've always thought that people have right to decide to live and therefore, to die. I agree with all types of abortion, with suicide, and obviously also with euthanasia.

When I hear this last word, I immediately think of someone on a ventilator bed, suffering much. I can also imagine a sad family, suffering for not being able to help the sick. But I just imagine this situation because I don’t know cases of euthanasia, but I don’t think it necessary to agree or disagree.

Well, I’ve no more religion than myself, so I only can say that I think euthanasia should be legal due to the power of each person on her/his own body, the power to decide to stop the suffering of himself and her/his family. For this reason, I disagree the government have the power to decide for people. I think the government can regulate in many ways to achieve better management and organization of society, but government has limits on individual freedom, provided when this freedom doesn’t violate others' freedom.
See you!

The pizzaland!

Beautiful cities, amazing monuments, tarantella, lasagma… and a lot of pizza! Yes… I would love to travel to Italy. I think Italy is one of the most beautiful countries of Europe, you can breathe history in its streets, buildings filled with great architecture and beautiful and old squares.

Italy is a country in southern Europe, it’s a peninsula, meaning it is surrounded by the sea on all sides apart from one (its north side). Italy is separated from France, Switzerland, and Austria by the Alps, a chain of mountains like Andes here on Chile.

I would like to travel around all over the country with my boyfriend, walking through cities such as Rome, Milan, Tuscany ... know the big wineries, visit museums, learn to speak Italian.

When finished with my studies, I would like to continue studying at a university in Italy, learn the language, maybe I stay at home to work and put my office in a small southern town, next to the green fields and near the Mediterranean.

Films that I (dis)like

Hi bloggers! Well, the last time that I watched a movie was four months ago, so you can suppose that I usually don’t go at the cinema, watch films at home, or rent, buy or download films.

I don’t like a lot watching films, I think that I’ve only seen fifteen films in all my life, because I think that current films are so boring, because they exaggerate the lives and life situations a lot.

But, my boyfriend invited me to watch “Violeta se fue a los cielos”, wich I don’t like too much, but it was interesting for me. It’s a drama and historical film about Violeta Parra, a chilean multifaceted woman: weaver, painter, singer, and more. I like this movie not for the story, but for the acting quality and . I only watched once it. Anyway I recommend it because it's good to know about important people in chilean History.

I’ll never forget when I watched “The lion king” when I was a child. I cried a lot, and since this time I dislike films for children. But, I like to feel fear, so, I like (but not that much) horror movies.

Otherwise, I wouldn’t like that my life was watched for people that I even don’t know, well, but this film I think would be a drama movie hahaha.

See you!

Class in summer :(

Hi classmates and new classmates, how are you? Tired… I think it, and this is natural, because I think that nobody had thought how different this term would be.

My expectations for this strange term are a lot and very differents. On the one hand I think that the quality of the contents will be worse, because this term is very short and I really don´t know how the teachers can do it. But on the other hand, I expect that we as students will able to be autodidact, and to learn like in past times at the University, not tell you everything that you had to do.
I think that the subjects that I’m taking this term are very interesting: Social Psychology II, qualitative methodology, introduction to psychological assessment, cognitive neuroscience, developmental psychology II, psychiatry and English IV. I like all, I would have had them in a regular term.
I feel so sad studiyng in christmas and “new year”, because I’m not sure if I can go to my house, but I don’t want to talk a lot about it.
I only hope that this situation is being helpful and useful for everybody.
Bye classmates, see you!

A different pic [!]

Hi classmates! Today I want to talk about pictures [I think that this topic is very interesting, because it’s a different way for express ourselves and it serves us to know ourselves]
I really like pictures, and above all take pics, but I can’t take it because my cam was spoiled since two years ago, and because I don’t think that have one it’s necessary.
I chose a pic that I like, but this work – to choose- is not so easy, I took a lot thinking in one that I like, and that I would want to share with you.

This picture was taken by Sergio, but we call him “Checho”. In the pic appear Luna, Checho, Emilio and me. I remember that this day my friends were very very artistic hahah and decide to take a different picture, so, they think in a good idea: Luna and me took my mirror and took the pic while Checho and Emilio appear reflected. Obviously, this pic was without flash. It was taken the last year, I think that it was exactly in October in our apartment. I live still with these three guys. I like this picture because I think that it’s very original [I never had thought in something like this], and because when I see it, I feel very good for have new friends here in Santiago and I forget how I miss my friends from Molina and Curicó.
I think that it’s very important to take pictures, because these help us to not forget our memories… but, I think that there are things that if were forgotten is because they are not so important.
That’s all! See you!

My phone and me :)

My favorite gadget is my phone. Yes, I know that it's common to think it, but I really love it! I've had very few phones, all of this with tragic endings (one of them was eaten by a dog, another fell into the river and the last died), but I think my current phone is immortal. I have this model (Nokia 1200) for 2 years and always it has worked very well.

It's simple and cheap, so I'm not afraid to walk with it down the street. I bear my phone in my backpack every day, but I don’t use to call too, but to see time and date, also I use it as an alarm clock,... but what I love about it is his flashlight. I remember that the day of the earthquake all the lights were turned off, and the only thing that helped us to get out was my phone.

My life without my cell phone would be the same, because although it remember me what time and day is, I'm still unpunctual and inattentive, the only thing that’s different is that now I’m illuminated hahaha.
